The all-new TRAIL-EZE multi-position wheelbase for the TE801 slide axle trailers offers flexibility with its three adjustable axle locations, making state line crossings easier than ever. In the rearmost position, the longest wheelbase optimizes weight distribution. The frontmost position achieves a kingpin-to-rear-axle distance of less than 40 feet, meeting California's legal requirements. The middle position ensures compliance with various other regional regulations.
Unlike the standard running gear, this multi-position design incorporates two sliding subframes instead of one. The system is operated via air and hydraulic controls conveniently located on the driver side of the upper deck.
To adjust the trailer to the shortest wheelbase position, start by releasing the trailer brakes using the brake release valve near the hydraulic controls. Then, using the hydraulic controls, move the axle group, both upper and lower sliders, approximately 6.5 feet before re-engaging the brakes. Next, switch the slider lock toggle to "unlocked" and move the upper slider backward around 6 feet. Finally, switch the slider lock toggle to "locked" and continue moving the upper slider rearward until the locks re-engage. Release the trailer brakes and move the axle group back to the rear.
Returning the trailer to the longest wheelbase position follows a similar process, but with the steps in a slightly different order. Begin by setting the trailer brakes, unlocking the slider toggle, and moving the upper slider forward. Then, lock the slider toggle and continue moving the upper slider forward until the locks re-engage. Finally, release the trailer brakes and move the axle group to the rear of the trailer.
