The 2024 World of Asphalt and AGG1 Aggregates Academy & Expo just wrapped up, and it was one for the record books.
The three-day event, held at the Nashville's Music City Center’s sprawling 207,000 square-foot space, marked more than one milestone at this year’s event. The marquee annual paving industry event not only marked its 20th anniversary -- it also drew a record 15,800 asphalt and aggregate professionals and hosted 440 exhibitors, smashing the previous record for both.
Visitors from Africa, England, Argentina … and even 71 participants from the Dominican Republic, including Minister of Public Works Deligne Ascencion Burgos, were also in attendance.
The conference's educational component was nearly as robust as the attendance, with more than 120 breakout sessions, focusing on topics ranging from best practices in milling & profiling to relational leadership, catering to diverse interests and needs within the industry.
The show's popularity was evident from the sold-out kick-off party, hosted by Raised on Blacktop and World of Asphalt, setting the stage for a dynamic and productive event.
Notable unveilings from industry leaders like WIRTEN GROUP, BOMAG, and Eagle Crusher Co. showcased the latest advancements in sustainable technologies and equipment for road construction while the inaugural Women of Asphalt Day, showcased the changing demographics of the paving industry.
The 2024 World of Asphalt and AGG1 event felt like a gargantuan success, demonstrating the fiscal health and stakeholder enthusiasm of the industry and setting the stage for next year’s conference, which will be a five-hour drive up I-55, in St. Louis, in 2025.
