Liebherr has appointed Hirohito Imakoji as managing director of Liebherr USA, Co., according to the company. Imakoji will share executive responsibilities for U.S. operations with Kai Friedrich, managing director and divisional director of earthmoving and material handling technology.
In his new role, he will oversee strategic planning and the execution of growth strategies for corporate, finance and administrative functions within Liebherr USA’s shared services. The Newport News-based organization supports 10 product segments throughout the United States.
“I am to join the team at Liebherr USA, Co. The United States is one of Liebherr’s most important markets, and we are committed to strengthening our operations nationwide to better support our partners and provide the best solutions to our customers,” Imakoji said.
Imakoji has been with the Liebherr Group for more than 17 years. He began his career as an intern at Liebherr-Werk Nenzing GmbH in 2004 and became a full-time employee in 2007. He later held roles at Liebherr-Hong Kong in 2010 and Liebherr-Sunderland Works in the United Kingdom in 2011. Most recently, he served as managing director of finance and administration at Liebherr-Electronics and Drives GmbH in Germany from 2017 to 2024.
Born in Osaka, Japan, Imakoji was raised in Salzburg, Austria, where he earned a degree in business and economics. In his spare time, he enjoys outdoor sports.
