FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – The Independent Distributors Association (IDA), representing the independent heavy equipment industry since 1958, welcomes Sheila Andrews as the new Executive Director.
Andrews comes to the IDA with more than 13 years of non-profit leadership in government affairs and association management. Most recently, Andrews served eight years as the director of HDDA: Heavy Duty, dedicated to the independent heavy vehicle industry, and a community of the Auto Care Association.
"Sheila brings a wealth of experience and energy to the IDA,” said Paul Bonovich, President of the Board of Directors of the IDA. “She understands the role that an association takes in reaching independent businesses who have similar needs and challenges. More importantly, she has demonstrated an ability to bring value and benefits to members of an association. The IDA is leading the way as the Global Aftermarket Forum for the heavy equipment, earthmoving and construction industries; and Sheila will do a fantastic job as our new Executive Director," added Mr. Bonovich.
“The IDA has a strong 62-year history of leading the independent heavy equipment industry around the world. I am thrilled to carry this tradition into the next phase of development,” Andrews said. “The independent aftermarket is a dedicated and connected group of members focused on a strong and sustainable industry. Champions of innovation and service to the construction, mining, and agriculture industries, IDA provides the best link between the organizations in the global heavy equipment aftermarket. I look forward to introducing new ways to keep the IDA going strong."
Along with the new leadership, IDA has a new look. The redesigned logo is a statement on the future of the organization and establishes its commitment to leading the future of the industry.
In order continue the networking and growth of the independent heavy equipment industry, IDA has taken its annual World Trade Week virtual. Participants can expect world-class business presentations and critical information on the status and future of the marketplace. In addition to professional thought leadership, the virtual tradeshow offers exhibitors and customers the opportunity to experience the offerings of suppliers for a full six-months on-line.
Out-going Executive Director, Nancy Estes, served the IDA for nearly 24 years. Her leadership saw the organization through decades of change and kept the membership going strong. The IDA wishes Nancy the best in her future endeavors and thanks her for her invaluable service to the aftermarket.
About the IDA: This formidable movement started more than 60 years ago. Its only purpose is to support every company (manufacturer, distributor, rebuilder, service provider, retailer, and broker) who is not an original equipment manufacturer. That includes every size and type business who finds a way on a daily basis to impact our industry...whose critical common bond is their independence from the Original Equipment Manufacturers AND who is committed to providing solutions to customers who are looking for alternatives to the OEM.
