Equify and Auction Customers Unite to Sponser a Veteran

Equify, a Fort Worth based equipment finance company, has several ties with the armed forces and as a company, continuously dedicates time and effort to supporting the military however they can. However, 2016 showed the heart of the company and their customers in a profound way. Over the course of 2016, Equify received several items donated by The Boot Campaign to run through their auction events. Items such as combat boots signed by retired Navy Seal and Lone Survivor author, Marcus Luttrell and combat boots signed by Dallas Cowboys quarterback, Tony Romo. Equify had hopes of raising money, but managed to surpass all expectations, ultimately raising over $18,000 through the generous support and donations of their auction customers. A Kimber Custom II .45 acp Boot Campaign Edition custom gun, was repeatedly bid on, won and re-donated in order to raise more money. This item alone raised nearly all of the final donated amount. The Boot Campaign has assembled a dedicated team of experts, focused on the science of the brain of veterans. The difference with this approach is, they want to get to the root cause of what these veterans are experiencing in order to treat them, not just cover them up. The ability to treat each veteran as an individual gives them a better chance at surviving. Through the combined efforts of The Boot Campaign, Equify and their customer base, a veteran has now been sponsored and will soon receive diagnostics and brain treatment to combat TBI, PTS, insomnia, pain and addiction. No story of a veteran is the same, therefore no treatment plan is the same. Equify continues to raise money and awareness through involvement in programs like ReBoot and the Boot Campaign. The goal for 2017 will be, at the very least, to sponsor a second veteran. If you have items you wish to donate to have them auctioned off through Equify, please reach out to katydabbert@equifyllc.com. If you'd like to know more about The Boot Campaign and their ongoing efforts for veterans, please check their website at www.bootcampaign.org. Equipment rental giant United Rentals (URI) said late Wednesday it would acquire NES Rentals in a cash deal valued at about $965 million. Chicago-based NES specializes in providing cranes and other aerial equipment to more than 18,000 industrial and nonresidential construction customers. The company, which is majority-owned by private equity firm Diamond Castle Holdings, has 73 branches and about 1,100 employees spread mostly throughout the eastern half of the United States, generating Ebitda of $166 million on sales of $369 million in 2016. Stamford, Conn.-based United Rentals is a rollup founded by Bradley S. Jacobs, the current CEO of XPO Logistics (XPO), and was a prolific acquirer from 1997, when it was formed, into the late 2000s. In recent years, it has been more deliberate: This is the company's first major deal since its 2014 purchase of Beaumont, Texas-based National Pump for $780 million. The buyer in a statement said that the purchase of NES would increase its branch footprint and give it additional density in strategically important markets in the East Coast, Gulf States and Midwest. With the overlap United Rentals said there are "meaningful opportunities for cost synergies," as well as opportunities to strengthen customer relationships. "This exciting transaction will augment our revenue, earnings, Ebitda, free cash flow and overall scale, and expand our base of local and strategic accounts at a key point in the demand cycle, United Rentals CEO Michael Kneeland said in a statement. "In NES, we're acquiring a well-run operation that's primed to benefit from our technology, infrastructure and cross-selling capabilities." The agreement is not conditioned on any financing requirements, with United Rentals expected to use a combination of cash on hand, existing capacity under its ABL facility and newly issued debt to fund the purchase. New York-based Diamond Castle acquired then publicly traded NES in May 2006 for $850 million. The company, which had been created through 42 acquisitions, had a stay in bankruptcy in 2003-04 but emerged with its bondholders taking control in a debt-for-equity swap. The deal comes on the same day that United Rentals reported better-than-expected fourth-quarter earnings and revenue on strong demand for its equipment. The company, the world's largest provider of heavy rental equipment, also boosted 2017 revenue forecasts to between $5.75 billion and $5.95 billion, ahead of what analysts were expecting. Hayes Award for excellence in construction of an asphalt pavement. The award, bestowed annually since 1971, recognizes the country's highest quality highway pavement. The company received its award on Wednesday, February 1st at a ceremony during the association's 62th Annual Meeting in Orlando, Fla. Northeast Asphalt Inc., a Walbec Group company, and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation Northeast Region were named the winner for Northeast Asphalt's work on State Trunk Highway (STH) 26 from Waupun to Rosendale. "This is a great national spotlight for our member companies and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) considering that only one award is earned annually," said Brandon Strand, Executive Director of the Wisconsin Asphalt Pavement Association (WAPA). "This is actually our second Hayes Award in the last three years further proving that Wisconsin contractors are some of the very best in the country." The 16-mile stretch of construction included various road widenings, the reshaping of twelve intersections, fifteen culvert crossings, and a full realignment of the highway. Two pilot requirements were in place during the entire project – a Quality Management Program special provision to pulverize and relay base density and a high-recycle material test section. As a result, the $11 million investment in the STH 26 project rejuvenated the service life of the existing highway and provided a safer, smoother road. The efficiency of the two pilot programs combined with the high quality driving surface earned Northeast Asphalt the distinction of winning this year's Sheldon G. Hayes Award. "To be awarded the highest honor in asphalt paving is truly humbling," said Chris Winiecki, Director of Technical Services for the Walbec Group. "This is the result of exceptional collaboration between WisDOT and industry in the design phase, coupled with a high degree of skill and attention to detail by all the men and women involved in the field construction." The Sheldon G. Hayes Award winner and finalists are determined through a rigorous two-year evaluation process. Any highway pavement project using more than 50,000 tons of asphalt is eligible for consideration. Initially, the project must win a Quality in Construction (QIC) Award, which is determined by numerical scores given by pavement engineers at the National Center for Asphalt Technology (NCAT) on the basis of how well the contractor met specifications and achieved density on the finished pavement. All the pavements that meet a benchmark figure earn a QIC Award. The year after a project wins a QIC Award; it is eligible for consideration for the Sheldon G. Hayes Award. The top-ranked projects from each year are tested for smoothness, and then visually inspected by an independent pavement consultant with many years of experience in the industry. This year, the evaluators praised all the candidates for their high-quality construction practices, which resulted in smooth, safe, and durable pavements. About WAPA "Asphalt. Wisconsin rides on us." Established in 1948, WAPA is a statewide, non-profit organization representing the interests of the asphalt industry. WAPA members serve the Wisconsin DOT, counties, municipalities, towns, commercial, and private customers. WAPA’s mission is to keep asphalt the number one choice for pavements by building roads in a safe, environmentally friendly, and cost- effective manner that is in the best interest of the customer and the state. "The Donald" had a bumpy ride from time to time on his campaign trail to the Oval Office. But the 70-year-old businessman-turned national leader won't experience any bumps during his historic ride this afternoon, thanks to Fort Myer Construction. Every four years, Fort Myer Construction has the opportunity to provide milling and paving along Pennsylvania Avenue for the District Department of Transportation to prepare the route for Inauguration Day when the new president is sworn into office. ZOOM Fort Myer Construction used a 9.5mm PG70-22 warm mix asphalt This past November, Fort Myer Construction tackled the project again. When not hosting presidential motorcades, Pennsylvania Avenue - often-called America's Main Street – is accommodating countless official parades and processions, as well as protest marches. For normal working people, it is also a major commuter route and is part of the National Highway System. Fort Myer Construction again had the welcome opportunity to pave the avenue because the company is a subcontractor to Capital Paving which was performing all asphalt operations under the National Highway Systems (NHS) routes contract. This contains a "task order" to resurface Pennsylvania Avenue every four years. ZOOM Wirtgen, Caterpillar and BOMAG machinery were called up for duty Fort Myer, founded in 1972, is a leading contractor in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, focusing on an array of infrastructure construction disciplines. The company owns and operates two asphalt plants to supply customers annually with several thousand tonnes of federal- and state-approved mixes. Importantly, since Fort Myer is the outfit that owns two asphalt plants in the District of Columbia, the company could provide their own asphalt for this job. This was critical to ensure the project remained ahead of schedule and allowed the paving team to reschedule and schedule quick deliveries of asphalt due to weather changes. Fort Myer's experience over the years has counted. "We have been either the prime contractor or subcontractor on this contract since 2008," says Bradley Gardner, general superintendent of the company's asphalt division. To begin the Pennsylvania Ave. project, the road was first milled using multiple Wirtgen W200i milling machines in an echelon fashion, explains Gardner. After milling, brick crosswalks were covered with plastic, then sand was spread on top of the plastic. Curb and gutter were also covered with sand prior to paving. This was done to preserve existing structures along the historical route. Fort Myer used a 9.5mm PG70-22 warm mix asphalt for paving. "The mix was determined based on the thickness of the lift (nearly 3.2cm) and the temperature during this time of year," says Gardner. "Only one lift was done to complete this job." In total, the project required roughly 5,200tonnes of asphalt and was paved using a 3m Caterpillar AP1055F track paver and two 2.4m track pavers AP655E, AP655F and one 2.4m rubber tyre paver AP600D. All four pavers were working in echelon formation. The pavement was compacted using BOMAG BW161 rollers for breakdown and a BOMAG BW138 for finish rolling. The project took six business days to complete - with no weekend work. 174 0 0 0 www.WorldHighways.com ZOOM ZOOM 0 1 -1 -1 0 1999-11-30 00:00:57 html 0 1 0 149 3 3 2 2 2 20170228110522499 149 0 InternationalNews 2017-02-28 11:05:22 U.S. News World Report Names Iowa #6 Best State (DES MOINES)–Today, U.S. News World Report released their 2017 "Best States" ranking and ranked Iowa as the 6th "Best State" in the country.  "Best States" is a unique rankings and news analysis platform designed to inform citizens, business leaders and policymakers alike about what's working and what needs improvement across the country. OKAHUMPKA, Fla., February 24th, 2016 - Micro Trenching is one of the installation methods being utilized by contractors to bring fiber networks to consumers. Micro Trenching is an installation method in which a narrow and relatively shallow trench is cut, usually on an asphalt roadway. Trench dimensions can range from .75 to 2.24 inches wide and 8 to 16 inches deep. While cutting, a vacuum system connected to the cutter wheel cleanly diverts and transports debris away from the worksite. Once the conduit is laid, the trench is backfilled with a grout compound. Advantages of Micro Trenching include minimal cutting width that boosts installation production, reduce costs of backfill, shallow depth placement which helps avoid encounters with existing utilities and jobsite cleanliness thanks to the vacuum spoil that removes debris. Vac-Tron Equipment has gone one step further in the cleanup process by developing a solution to micro trenching using a specialized in-tank filter (patent pending) inside the vacuum excavation unit’s debris tank. In most cases, the in-tank filter eliminates the need to add water to the micro trenching process and eliminates excessive material from reaching the cyclone separator. By using this filter, it will reduce the cleanup time during the trench run because there will be no need to stop and cleanout the cyclone or unclog the exit hose from debris tank due to caked material. Ultimately this will increase overall efficiency onsite. David Donohue of Vermeer Mid Atlantic says The Vac-Tron LP 573 SGT is the ideal vacuum for micro trenching, the high cfm's and low noise output made communication and productivity simple. David and Pfeiffer Enterprise Inc were demonstrating Vermeer's micro trenching equipment and Vac-Tron's LP SGT high cfm unit in Glen Bernie, MD in this photo. Starting in North America, the alliance enables John Deere customers to use Kespry's fully integrated industrial drone platform to capture topographic data in minutes with survey-grade accuracy. "This technology will help our dealers offer a seamless workflow to site development and road building contractors from project planning through grading dirt," said Andrew Kahler, product marketing manager, John Deere WorkSight. "The data gathered from the Kespry system will help our customers and equipment operators make decisions that reduce costs and improve productivity as they optimize the job site and spend less time on jobs." Founded in 2013, Kespry delivers a fully automated drone system that takes off, flies a designated flight path and lands without operator intervention. With the Kespry Drone 2s now available across the John Deere network, customers can create a mission with the touch of a finger, then capture, analyze and share survey-grade data and insights. "Our relationship with John Deere will accelerate the adoption of drone solutions in industrial markets and will rapidly change how business is done in construction, road building and other industrial sectors," said George Mathew, chairman and CEO of Kespry. "These advanced aerial intelligence systems are already changing the face of work in industrial markets as surveyors and contractors are able to retool their skill sets for this increasingly connected world." John Deere chose Kespry based on its interoperability with John Deere WorkSight technologies and ease of use for customers. The agreement between the two companies includes Kespry working with John Deere dealers to train and certify them in the use of the Kespry 2s platform. Kespry develops all the hardware, software and cloud services that deliver a solution from field to finish. It is a leading aerial intelligence platform provider and is transforming how organizations capture, analyze and share business insights. The Kespry Drone 2s flies autonomously, without manual piloting, and uses sensors to avoid obstacles. To help customers operating in congested areas, the new Kespry Drone 2s is the first automated drone system that includes an on-board LiDAR sensor that automatically detects and avoids obstacles such as trees, cranes and buildings. The post-processed data are accessible from anywhere in the world through a web interface, allowing customers to access real-time 3D renderings, volumetric analysis and data export features with the click of a button. The drone-collected data can then be exported from the Kespry cloud to a number of common modeling packages including AGTEK Earthwork 4D, another endorsed John Deere solution to perform 3D model overlays, cut/fill maps, bidding and takeoff procedures. 178 0 0 0 Kespry 0 1 -1 -1 0 1999-11-30 00:00:42 html 0 1 0 149 3 3 2 2 2 20170313122706478 149 0 INDNEWS 2017-03-13 12:27:06 Indeco expects significant growth in US attachment market First published on CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2017 Daily News Italian attachment manufacturer Indeco is poised to meet a significant rise in demand in the US market. "There is definitely room for growth here," said Indeco marketing and commercial director Michele Vitulano. "Look at the grab: it's just starting to be used in the US." Then there is President Donald Trump's proposed multi-billion dollar infrastructure plan. "In the past 30 years in the US, nothing has been done," Vitulano said. "They need to start again and reinvest in this country." ZOOM Indeco's Michele Vitulano: "This is a dynamic market." Indeco's market and market share has been growing in the States over the past decade so that it is now the number two supplier. US sales account for over half of the company's turnover. "In our niche industry, the crisis in the US came earlier. In 2005-06 there was a big drop in hydraulic hammers and attachments sold in the US; after that the US market was recovering pretty quickly and the European market was dead," said Vitulano. Indeco's US business is based in Connecticut and has a manufacturing facility which currently makes hydraulic compactors. "The idea is to look at the possibility of doing more manufacturing in the US," he added. "We made a big investment 10 years ago; it is a huge premises and we have room to grow." Vitulano hints that he wants to extend the company's range of products, though he doesn't know yet whether this will be through acquisition or through direct investment in product development. "This is a dynamic market," he suggested. "We need to understand what changes are taking place and what our opportunities and obstacles will be in the future." Important product lines currently in the US are steel shears to service the huge number scrap and recycling yards and the manufacturer's boom system. "The dimensions of crushing plants here in the US are crazy, bigger than any other part of the world including Australia. The booms we make for the US market are like an excavator boom." 170 0 0 0 Indeco ZOOM http://www.worldhighway... http://www.worldhighway... 0 1 -1 -1 0 1999-11-30 00:00:24 html 0 1 0 149 3 3 2 2 2 20170313130001486 149 0 INDNEWS 2017-03-13 13:00:01 LiuGong's innovative loader lifts CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2017 First published on CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2017 Daily News LiuGong is unveiling an innovative new wheeled loader at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2017 that will increase efficiency for user. The firm's novel wheeled loader features a vertical lift configuration for its front end, allowing it to offer higher efficiency in truck loading applications. LiuGong's director of Test New Technology Ed Wagner said, "You can lift more with the same size of machine." The machine is built around a conventional articulating loader chassis, with most of the components common with the standard machine in the range and it also features a self-levelling Z-bar bucket linkage. However because this 20tonne machine features the vertical lift configuration it has a 16tonne tipping load, compared with a 12tonne tipping load for a conventional machine of the same weight. It can be fitted with a 4.3m3 bucket for truck loading and has a dump height of 3.5m, compared with the 3.37m3 bucket and 2.9m dump height of a conventional machine in the same weight class. The machine is best suited to stockpiling and truck loading applications. The key factor is that the machine is able to lift the load close to its centre of gravity, allowing it to raise a heavier bucket, rather than lifting at a greater distance which requires more power. Development work has still to be completed but the machine will be ready for the market at the end of 2017 and will be available with Tier 2, Tier 3 and Tier 4 Final engine options to suit the needs of the local market. Wagner said, "In the future there will be a whole range. The first one is the 20tonner but we will make machines that are smaller and larger." ZOOM LiuGong's novel wheeled loader offers high efficiency for truck loading The basic concept is simple and has been well-proven in the skid steer loader market, but this is the first time it has been used in a wheeled loader. With conventional radial lift arms the machine has a longer forward reach so it needs more weight at the rear to provide a counterbalance. However the vertical lift system lift straight up and as a result, requires less weight at the rear. Wagner explained that for truck loading, it means a smaller machine can be used for the same job and added, "With this I can take out around 40% of the machine weight." As driveline costs increase exponentially for wheeled loaders, being able to use a smaller machine also substantially reduces the pricetag for the customer for a given loading capacity. Fuel costs are notable lower as the machine has a reduced operating weight and LiuGong claims that the design can shift more material/kW than with a conventional radial lift machine, delivering more tonnes/hour for lower initial investment. Owning and operating costs are also lower than for conventional wheeled loader models. Although much of the componentry is standard, there are some differences and in addition to the special loader arm design the machine also has a slightly longer wheelbase than a standard machine. However Wagner said that the design work has ensured that its turning circle is as tight as possible and is not appreciably larger than a conventional unit. 233 0 0 0 LiuGong ZOOM http://www.worldhighway... http://www.worldhighway... https://www.youtube.com... https://www.youtube.com... 0 1 -1 -1 0 1999-11-30 00:00:48 html 0 1 0 149 3 3 2 2 2 20170322152125409 149 0 INDNEWS 2017-03-22 15:21:25 Caterpillar plows deeper into 3-D printing market with new partnership Dive Brief: Caterpillar has inked an agreement with FIT AG to 3-D print aluminum and titanium parts for the heavy equipment manufacturer, according to Engineering.com. The three-year deal will look to develop new additive manufacturing solutions for construction equipment. With offices in Germany and Boston, FIT AG previously sold its Netfabb 3-D printing software to Autodesk. Dive Insight: With the successful production of a 3-D printed excavator by Project AME unveiled at ConExpo, the race is on to adapt additive manufacturing technologies to the heavy equipment space. While still considered an early stage technology with just a handful of players producing proof-of-concept works, 3-D printing holds the possibility of using additive manufacturing for job site production of tools, machine parts or even operable heavy equipment. Companies like Apis Cor have been successful in downsizing the massive hardware footprint required by most 3-D print technologies, which have prevented the mobility necessary for wide-spread job site adoption. Apis Cor’s use of a crane arm, mobile 3-D printer to build a house in less than 24 hours shows the possibility of material and component creation for isolated job sites. The current FIT AG deal is not Caterpillar’s first foray into 3-D printing. Wes Tobin, of Pikeville, KY, 95, died Friday, March 17, 2017. He dedicated many years of his life to servicing customers and equipment in the mining business. Even at the age of 90, he was still one of the first people to be called when a service truck needed parts or a new truck was planned. "He was an elderly man that knew just about anything and everything about service trucks and lube trucks...after 15 minutes with him...I noticed that I was the one that had no idea," said Bill Jones, former Equipment Manager for Revelation Energy, about their 20 year friendship. As a customer of Tobin's, they came to expect him to not only answer his phone in the middle of the night, but to deliver the part before sunrise as well. In many instances, Tobin would help install the part with no bill for labor. While some people get fired for sleeping on the job, it was a sign of devotion to see Wes asleep in his truck on the job, just in case the new "grease truck" or "tool truck" had a problem during the first night shift run. If one traveled with Tobin, the appointments were often scheduled around the towns that offered the best senior citizens center lunches. Appointments took longer than usual, because everyone on the jobsite had to stop over to check in with Wes. Nearly everyone involved with mining in the Central Appalachia knew of Wes. If you had not purchased from him, your grandfather, father, or other relation had dealt with him. And chances are, Wes had gotten one of those people out of a jam in the middle of the night. "He was the most well-known and respected individual in mining by manufacturers, suppliers, and especially by his customers...[We] greatly benefitted from the impact he made on the industry..." said Jason Ritchey, President/Owner of Curry Supply Company. As a competitor, the last thing one wanted to see was that overloaded red Chevy diesel truck pull in or out of a job site. Because not only did everyone prefer to deal with Wes due to his past experiences, chances were that he had the part they needed in the back of that truck. However, at the 2012 retirement party for "The Legend" in Pikeville, many of the attendees were his competitors. We all knew what it was like trying to sell against Wes, because we all did it. Not very successfully, but we did it. I was fortunate enough to also get the opportunity to work with Wes for many years. His true passion for the equipment and devotion to the customer was not a sales front, but his way of doing business. His favorite expression was that you need to kill the customer with kindness. For those of us who worked with Wes, we were blessed with knowing a true legend in this industry. For those who didn't, rest assured that the expectations for selling equipment and services are set much higher than before he entered into this industry. Thank you, Wes Tobin, for raising the bar for all of us. Jeran Pollock, V.P. Adds Blackwood Decking to Its Offerings (SAUK CENTRE, MINNESOTA, April 17th, 2017) – Felling Trailers, Inc. is well known in the trailer industry for offering a multitude of options to ensure a trailer is built to meet and exceed a customer's needs. With this mindset, Felling recently added Blackwood Lumber, an innovative, safety-focused decking material to its trailer option offerings. Blackwood Lumber starts with treated Southern Yellow Pine; each board has 1/4" milled out of the topside. Once the boards are milled, the rubber from reground tires is infused into the boards 6mm thick. The rubber then sits just above flush with the surface of the lumber so that the rubber always makes the first contact with equipment. Blackwood is said to be safer and stronger when compared to other materials such as standard lumber, rubber, or metal. Benefits of Blackwood: SAFER - Blackwood provides superior traction on any surface its applied to. From trailers to boat docks, Blackwood Lumber prevents slipping and makes loading equipment easier and safer, even in wet conditions. STRONGER - Blackwood is made with the highest quality lumber, which is strengthened by the fusion process. The industrial grade rubber infused in Blackwood is the same rubber used at gun ranges to absorb bullets. Blackwood is made to withstand heavy impact that would crack and damage normal lumber. LONGER - The rubber infusion in Blackwood doesn't fade or crack like lumber. It also doesn't stain and can be easily cleaned with water. Blackwood lasts longer than normal lumber and will keep your trailer or other surface looking new and professional for years to come. Since Felling started offering Blackwood decking late last year they have built a few of their show trailers with this option. "It's created quite a buzz. Initially I think it's the appearance of the decking that catches their attention with it being so distinctive, then you add in the safety aspect and there it is. Operator safety is huge. Blackwood offers increased traction which equals safer loading and safety features help save everyone's bottom line," said Ed Steinemann, Felling Trailers' National Accounts Manager. Felling has seen an increasing amount of interest for the Blackwood option, especially in the Rental Industry where Rumber decking has been the option of choice. In combination with a 2D or 3D excavator guidance system, Engcon's control system DC2 and ePS (engcon Positioning System) will then Engcon's tiltrotators get a revolutionary feature that the tilt function on the tiltrotator is handled automatically. "We are proud to be in collaboration with Engcon to deliver an automatic tilt function," says Nick Guadagnoli, Program Manager, Earth Moving Solutions at Leica Geosystems. "Our auto tilt system Leica iXE CoPilot together with an Engcon tiltrotator combines the best of both worlds when it comes to streamlining excavators continues Nick Guadagnoli. An excavator guidance system is simply a digital and three-dimensional drawing of an area that it should be dug in. The excavator is shown drawing on a large screen where the excavator operator can also see the bucket position, where it will be buried and what heights and slopes to be held. "Automated technical features are becoming more common and, as the leading manufacturer of tiltrotators, it feels natural for us to contribute our technology to increase profitability further," says Fredrik Jonsson, head of development at the Engcon Group. Underpining investment in the new factory is the need to meet increasing demand for Engcon's products as well as a drive to reduce delivery times. "We've enjoyed fantastic sales in recent years, so we're expanding our production and delivery capacity accordingly," said Stig Engström, Engcon's founder, during his inaugural speech at the new factory. Stig Engström praised his staff for maintaining delivery times in the face of record sales. He also said that the additional capacity provided by the new factory would allow the company to meet continued growth, especially now that the company is opening a US office in June and anticipates increased North American sales. Anders Jonsson, Head of Assembly at Engcon's factories in Strömsund, commented, "The new factory means we can be one step ahead before customers even place their orders. We will be able to offer even shorter delivery times, especially for larger volumes of our standard products," he says. The new plant and recent sales growth have resulted in the recruitment of additional staff and will probably mean further new jobs in the future. Concluding his speech, Stig Engström said, "Our growth rate speaks for itself; the increase in production space and staff won't stop here!" This Van Series air compressor is attractively priced and offers up to 30 CFM at 100% duty cycle, making it the best choice for operators using air tools for light duty applications. "We've seen tremendous growth in the commercial van industry in North America, as businesses introduce vans into their fleets", says Mike Pettigrew, VMAC's Marketing Manager. "VMAC has responded to our customers' evolving demands by producing the Van Series of UNDERHOOD30 Air Compressors for Ford, GMC, Chevrolet, RAM, and Mercedes-Benz models. The UNDERHOOD30 Air Compressor for the 2013-2017 Ford Transit EcoBoost is the latest addition to this popular Van Series." Weighing just 62 lbs (28 kg), the VMAC UNDERHOOD30 rotary screw air compressor is lightweight and compact. It is perfect for light duty applications; the compressor provides 50% more output of a bulkier standalone air compressor at a fraction of the weight. This affordable option can be installed quickly as there is minimal vehicle modification required, with the air compressor running off the van's own belt. VMAC works closely with van manufacturers to ensure vehicle warranties remain intact with the installation of UNDERHOOD air compressors. The VMAC UNDERHOOD30 Van Series air compressor also solves several unique safety challenges that traditional standalone air compressors present. With the Van Series air compressor safely stored under the hood of the vehicle, operators aren't exposed to toxic exhaust in the cargo area, or at risk of gas fires. Moreover, without the need to lift and move a heavy piece of machinery in the van's cargo area, operators are less likely to suffer from lifting injuries. "2017 has been an exciting year for VMAC with the launch of several new air compressors, as we continue our commitment to meeting the needs of our customers and their businesses", says Pettigrew. "In addition to the UNDERHOOD30 Air Compressor for Ford Transit EcoBoost vans, we also launched the DTM70 at NTEA's Work Truck Show in March, and just announced the UNDERHOOD70 for 2017 GMC Sierra Duramax Diesel Engines." The latest EC-Oil is a newly developed blade-type electrical connector with increased contact surfaces. It’s been moved to the top of the hitch to protect it better from oil and dirt. EC-Oil's new electrical connector has 12 sturdy pins (6 + 6) that make it even more durable than its predecessor. What’s more, the improved EC-Oil was rigorously tested during the winter of 2016-2017 with approximately 100,000 couplings in varied environments including dirt, sal*censored*er and snow. The tests have made sure the improved EC-Oil can handle really tough working environments. “The test results have been nothing but positive," says John Lundqvist, test manager at Engcon's RD department in Strömsund. Sweden. Unique wedge shape allows maximum contact The pins in the connector are wedge-shaped and, when connected, are inserted about 20 mm into the spring-loaded female half. This provides a cleaning effect with maximum contact in every position, which reduces the risk of the machine losing electrical contact with the tool. “We also want to emphasize just how robust EC-Oil hydraulic connections are," says John Lundqvist, explaining that each movable part of the connector (female + male) has an O-ring seal that is easy to access, making maintenance simple. It’s also the only O-ring on EC-Oil; the connectors are instead sealed through their smart conical shape. “The simple, robust design also makes EC-Oil the market's best value-for-money solution for fully hydraulic couplers,” adds John Lundqvist. Deliveries of the improved EC-Oil begin in June 2017 The improved EC-Oil will be built into Engcon’s Q-Safe quick coupler in the sizes QS45, QS50, QS60, QS70 and QS80 for excavators from 6 to 33 metric tons. The QS60 will be first with initial deliveries anticipated for the middle of June 2017; the other sizes will be introduced throughout the summer and autumn of 2017. The training program earned the Plantworx Innovation Award, which each year draws attention to innovative companies, products and services that have made a major impact within the construction equipment industry. The training program in the UK is part of Engcon's ongoing initiative to increase the safety of its products, including the operation of the tiltrotator. The outcomes of the UK NPORS tiltrotator training program will be important for the continued safety initiatives in other Engcon markets, such as the US and Canada. “We are very pleased to have won this prestigious award. As the largest manufacturer of tiltrotators in the world, we take our corporate responsibility very seriously. It’s therefore gratifying that our efforts, such as this safety training, receive due praise," says Robert Hunt, Engcon's Chief Executive in England. “It's important to remember that the training program NPORS conducts with our help is not only applicable to Engcon's tiltrotators, but also to tiltrotators from other manufacturers," says Robert Hunt. Our decision to recruit new territory managers will quickly help further build our position by raising brand awareness and result in more of the right used and near new equipment being consigned into our forthcoming auctions.” Yoder Frey is seeking territory managers to cover areas across the USA that include Georgia, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Ohio, New York, Kentucky and Tennessee. In each case their role will be to identify and work with potential consignors and secure heavy equipment consignments and fill the regional auction yards ahead of each scheduled sale. Liaison with international sites around the globe will also be required, particularly if shipping equipment to or from these locations will result in auction prices for the consignments being maximized. In each case the new Yoder Frey territory managers will be self-starters and machinery enthusiasts with proven equipment knowledge and established sales networks. They will be expected to build rapport with customers, be available to travel internationally and will become key part of the rapidly growing team. Each role has an attractive base salary plus an uncapped, performance-based bonus, includes company car and other benefits plus ongoing professional training and development. Peter Clark continued: “Whilst exports of new US manufactured construction equipment has been declining over recent years, domestic sales have remained buoyant and there is a thriving used equipment market here that’s poised to soar over the next few years. With President Trump now promising to ‘rebuild America’ and a growing number of major infrastructure projects, said to be valued at approaching US$150 billion being scheduled, we will be perfectly positioned to support this growth by being part of the solution. Having the right people in place to manage this growth is vital which is why were actively looking to recruit new territory managers now and with them successfully expand our operation. Bidding has been brisk at all the recent Yoder Frey auctions with considerable interest being shown in the vast majority of the quality used heavy machinery and commercial lots being sold. Internet bidding has also featured heavily at each of these sales with a significant jump being reported in the number of lots being successfully sold via this route, clearly demonstrating the international appeal and growing demand for quality used construction and related equipment. Buyers from across the USA and from upwards of 90 countries worldwide have already signed up and used the new online platform. He sold it for $2.25 when he was just 14. That sale was just the first of many. Today, Pyle owns and runs West Virginia’s largest auctioneering company, Joe R. Pyle Auctions. Last year, Pyle’s company sold more than 65,000 cars. The company employs more than 500 people at its locations across the state. Originally, the business focused solely on cars, but it has grown to include real estate, historic items, sports memorabilia and just about anything else Pyle can get his hands on. Sitting behind an imposing wooden desk in an office decorated with collectables, antiques and family photos, Pyle said it all began with his father, Don. Don Pyle owned Don’s Cars in Mount Morris, Pennsylvania, which sold “late-model used cars,” Joe said. When Joe was 8 years old, Don took him to his first auction in Gibsonia, Pennsylvania. He was hooked instantly. The crowd, the clothes, the excitement — it all appealed to young Joe. “When I came back, I said, ‘That’s what I want to do when I grow up,’” he said. Joe said from that moment on, he became obsessed with auctioneering. In his spare time, Joe would practice counting his numbers backward and forward and work on perfecting his vocal abilities. Even his playtime was spent auctioneering. “I had a trailer that had a bunch of furniture in it,” he said. “And I would auction that off every day. I had a bunch of Matchbox Cars and auctioned them off. ... I built a little auction building out of Lincoln Logs.” At age 14, Joe got the opportunity to participate in his first real auction at Pennsylvania’s 84 Auction Barn selling assorted lots of tools for a family friend. “He would let me sell the tools,” Joe said. “We’d just get up on the back of a pickup truck, sell it all off, move on to the next one.” Over the next several years, Joe spent his time studying auctioneering and perfecting his future craft. He would listen to recordings of veteran auctioneers and attend every live auction he could. “I would just try to pick up the best little practices,” he said. Along the way, Joe discovered that the human element of auctions appealed to him just as much as the process of actually selling something. “Auctioneering is more than just counting numbers or having a nice chant,” Joe said. “Auctioneering is connectability to a customer. They have to trust you.” Joe got his auctioneering license at age 16 and began to hold his own auctions, selling antiques. Throughout his teens, Joe supported himself with contract auctioneering gigs, traveling across West Virginia and Pennsylvania officiating one-off auctions anywhere they would have him. During this time, Joe met and began dating his future wife Charlotte. The pair were married when Joe was 23 and she was 20. For more than 30 years, the couple have been partners in life and business. “She contributes heavily to what we get done,” Joe said of his wife’s role in the business. “We’ve built what we’ve built together.” Within a few years of their marriage, the couple founded the auction company and opened its Shinnston location. “We felt like there was a need for an auto auction down here in West Virginia,” Joe said. The business began with just a small office and a two-lane garage. As the business started to grow, so did its faculties. Over the years the building has been renovated 14 times, Joe said. The once humble garage has since been expanded into a massive multi-lane warehouse and the office has been transformed into a living museum dedicated to Joe’s life, interests, family and achievements. Its walls are covered in framed photographs, license plates, vintage advertisements and much of the building is decorated like a 1950s diner. The rear-end of a Volkswagen Beetle juts out from a wall in the building’s lobby, and Charlotte does her work seated behind a desk made out of the front-end of a candy-pink Chevrolet. The facilities even include an actual diner that serves guests on auction days. The vibrant and eccentric offices are a reflection of Joe himself. When he auctioneers, Joe has become known for wearing colorful cowboy hats, matching boots and an ever-changing array of flamboyant suits. The custom-made suits often reflect a holiday theme, featuring a pattern of Santa Claus faces for Christmas or pumpkins for Halloween. Margie Willis, who has worked for Joe for more than 28 years, said his suits draw customers to the auctions. “Everyone is always excited to see what Joe will wear next,” Willis said. Joe said his personal style has not only come to define his business, but also helps him get into the right mental space before an auction. “It’s part of the brand,” Joe said. “It’s very likened to a performer. You absolutely have to be on your game when you step on that auction block.” Although the company is already larger and more successful than Joe could have ever imagined when he first sold that first garden hoe as boy, he said he still has plans to continue its growth. “We’ve invested in ourselves. A lot of people invest in others or invest in the stock market,” Joe said. “I invest in blacktop and buildings and fences.” To learn more about Joe R. Nearly all contractors surveyed – 96 percent – expect revenues to grow or remain stable this year compared to 2016, with 40 percent expecting an increase and only 3 percent expecting a decrease in revenue. The Index is a new quarterly economic indicator designed to gauge what drives the commercial construction industry and its leaders, including specific issues like backlog of work, new business pipeline, revenue projections, workforce issues, and access to financing. Given the sector's importance to the U.S. economy and the outsized role it could play in years to come, the data contained in the Index will be vital to better understanding trends, challenges and opportunities. The research was developed with Dodge Data Analytics (DDA), the leading provider of insights and data for the construction industry, by surveying commercial and institutional contractors. This first-of-its-kind Index was born out of a need to understand the issues that affect commercial construction. The Index will deliver critical insights into the future health of the industry, said Jennifer Scanlon, president and chief executive officer of USG Corporation. USG is committed to providing solutions for our customers in order to help the entire industry make strong contributions to the U.S. economy. Through the Index we are able to identify areas of strength and pinpoint areas of improvement where industry leaders must focus. Two-thirds (66 percent) of contractors said they expect to employ more workers in the next six months, indicating growth in a sector that employs approximately 3 million Americans. But 61 percent of Index respondents reported difficultly finding skilled workers. The contractors reported the biggest shortages in the concrete, interior finishes/millwork, masonry, electrical and plumbing trades. The commercial construction industry is a vital engine for the American economy, said Tom Donohue, president and CEO of the U.S. Chamber. The projected growth uncovered in this research is good news for employers and workers, but there is reason for concern in the lack of qualified talent available in vital specialties. To get our economy growing to its full potential, we must ensure that we have a workforce that is ready to fill the available jobs. Each quarter, this first-of-its-kind research will make us smarter about future challenges and inform solutions for our country's leaders. The report looks at the results of three leading indicators – backlog levels, new business opportunities and revenue forecasts – to generate a composite index on a scale of 0-100 that serves as an indicator of health for the contractor segment on a quarterly basis. The Q2 2017 composite index score was 76, representing continued health in the sector. This composite score is up two points from a 74 in the Q1 survey, driven primarily by a bump in the ratio between actual and ideal backlog. New business and revenue results also saw slight increases quarter-over-quarter. The composite scores from the three drivers of confidence were: Backlog: 81, up four points in Q2 over Q1. Contractors' current average backlog levels represent 81 percent of their ideal backlog levels, up from 77 percent in Q1. On average, contractors currently hold 9.9 months of backlog, while the ideal amount is 12 months. New Business: 77, up two points in Q2. Nearly all contractors continue to report high or moderate confidence in the market. Well over half of contractors (59 percent) reported high confidence in new business over the next 12 months (up from 51 percent in Q1), indicating a shift to higher levels of confidence among some respondents. Revenues: 71, up two points in Q2. An overwhelming 96 percent of contractors expect revenues to grow or remain stable in 2017 over 2016. Of those expecting revenue increases, the actual percentage of expected increases varies widely. Forty percent expect revenue increases of 7 percent or more in the next 12 months. The Index findings are compiled using survey results from contractors within a DDA panel of more than 2,700 decision makers from across key facets of the commercial construction industry. This first public report was developed using research from previous quarters, which puts into context the state of contractor sentiment in the U.S. building industry. About the Index The USG + U.S. Chamber of Commerce Commercial Construction Index is a quarterly economic index designed to gauge the outlook for, and resulting confidence in, the commercial construction industry. USG Corporation and the U.S. Chamber produce this Index, along with Dodge Data Analytics (DDA). Each quarter, researchers from DDA source responses from their Contractor Panel of more than 2,700 commercial construction decision-makers in order to better understand their levels of confidence in the industry and other key trends. This panel allows DDA to provide findings that are representative of the entire U.S. construction industry by geography, size, and type of company. Click here to see the full methodology. Please note the Commercial Construction Index report is intended for general informational purposes only. It is not intended to support an investment decision with respect to USG, nor is it intended to be used for marketing purposes to any existing or prospective investor of USG. This report is not a forecast of future results for USG and actual results of USG may differ materially from those of the commercial construction industry. The money would come from existing job training programs. The executive order would leave it to industry to design apprenticeships under broad standards to be set by the Labor Department. We're training people to have great jobs and high paying jobs, Trump said at a White House ceremony. We're here today to celebrate the dignity of work and the greatness of the American worker. Trump is directing the government to review and streamline some 43 workforce programs across 13 agencies. Senior administration officials have said Trump was reluctant to spend more federal funds on apprenticeships, so the boost would come from existing money, perhaps from the streamlining process. The officials spoke Thursday on condition of anonymity to preview Trump's order. Companies have long complained that they can't find trained people to fill highly technical jobs, and apprenticeship programs have sprung up around the country. Companies now have to register with the Labor Department and adhere to specific government guidelines. Under Trump's order, private industry would have more flexibility and be eligible for registration by the Labor Department. Rep. Bobby Scott, D-Va., attended the signing ceremony and supports expanding apprenticeships generally. There is a little bit of uncertainty, about how the order will be put into effect, said Scott, the ranking Democrat on the House Education and the Workforce Committee. He said he recommended to the administration that all apprenticeships be registered, but Trump's order does not require it. We're concerned about the unregistered programs, Scott said. The key is accountability. Labor Department, White House officials said, would review the apprenticeships but under broader standards. Some critics say that means government approval would be more limited. We get that he wants to put a little more money toward the grants, but they're also trying to eliminate some of the oversight, said Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., who is co-sponsoring a bill with Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, to give companies tax incentives for apprenticeships. You don't want a fly-by-night training program. There are about 500,000 apprenticeship positions in the U.S., representing less than a percentage of the U.S. workforce. Trump had campaigned on creating jobs. The executive order addresses the nation's skills gap that have left millions of open jobs unfilled. Apprenticeships would give students a way to learn skills without the crippling debt of four-year colleges, and expand those opportunities to women, minorities and other populations underrepresented among the nation's roughly 505,000 apprentices. Trump accepted a challenge earlier this year from a CEO to create 5 million new apprenticeships. The Trump administration has said there's a need that can be met with a change in the American attitude toward vocational education and apprenticeships. A November 2016 report by former President Barack Obama's Commerce Department found that apprenticeships are not fully understood in the United States, especially by employers, who tend to use apprentices for a few, hard-to-fill positions but not as widely as they could. The shortages for specifically trained workers cut across multiple job sectors, from construction trades to agriculture, manufacturing, information technology and health care. Critics say Trump can't be promoting apprenticeships while he proposes cutting federal job training funding by as much as 40 percent — from $2.7 billion to $1.6 billion. There also are questions about oversight of apprenticeship programs that begin and operate almost completely under the control of the company. Apprenticeships are few and far between. Of the 146 million jobs in the United States, about 0.35 percent — or slightly more than a half-million — were filled by active apprentices in 2016. Filling millions more jobs through apprenticeships would require the government to massively ramp up its efforts. Scaling is the big issue, said Robert Lerman, a fellow at the Urban Institute. Another complication: only about half of apprentices finish their multi-year programs. Fewer than 50,000 people — including 11,104 in the military — completed their apprenticeships in 2016, according to Labor Department. Trump's resume includes the hit television show, The Apprentice. 204 0 0 0 0 1 -1 -1 0 1999-11-30 00:00:17 html 0 1 0 149 3 3 2 2 2 20170619123046816 149 0 INDNEWS 2017-06-19 12:30:46 VMAC UNDERHOOD30 AIR COMPRESSOR NOW AVAILABLE FOR 2017 FORD F-250 F-350 NANAIMO,BC - June 19th, 2017 - VMAC has launched the latest UNDERHOOD30 air compressor for 2017 Ford F-250 and F-350 trucks. The cycle bridge will be part of a new section of ring road around Gemert in which the BAM Infra construction company is using innovative techniques. One of the advantages of printing a bridge is that much less concrete is needed than in the conventional technique in which a mold is filled. By contrast, a printer deposits only the concrete where it is needed. This has benefits since in the production of cement a lot of CO2 is released and much less of this is needed for printed concrete. Another benefit lies in freedom of form: the printer can make any desired shape, and no wooden molding frames are needed. An extra detail is that the researchers in the group of Theo Salet, professor of concrete construction, have succeeded in developing a process to also print the steel reinforcement at the same time. When laying a strip of concrete the concrete printer adds a steel cable so that the bridge is 'pre-stressed' so that no tensile stress can occur in the concrete, because this is something that concrete is not able to cope with adequately. In recent months, Theo Salet's research group made an initial scale model (1:2) and tested its safety by subjecting it to a 2000 kg load. Now that the safety has been demonstrated, a start can be made on printing the concrete elements that will later be glued together to form a bridge. Provincial representative Christophe van der Maat today got the ball rolling at TU/e. It is expected that the bridge elements will be printed and ready within two months. In September the BAM construction company will put the bridge in place in the Noord-Om, a new section of ring road around the village of Gemert, where the company is also using other new innovative building techniques. 186 0 0 0 0 1 -1 -1 0 1999-11-30 00:00:45 html 0 1 0 149 3 3 2 2 2 2017070512062412 149 0 INDNEWS 2017-07-05 12:06:24 HUGE DISCOUNT ON RESHORE SPRINGS HAPPY 4TH OF JULY! COLUMBUS, Ohio (July 14, 2017) – Emerging from an overall field of 93 competitors, Dustin Rogers, of Mount Airy, North Carolina, and Sara Rose Bytnar, of Naples, Florida, were crowned as winners of the Men's and Women's National Auctioneers Association 30th International Auctioneer Championship, which took place Friday at the Hyatt Regency Columbus. Rogers, CAI, CAS, and Bytnar, CAI, AARE, AMM, received a $5,000 cash award, trophy and championship ring for their winning efforts through the preliminary bid-calling round, an interview round consisting of three questions, and a final round of bid-calling that included the top 15 men and seven women. In the two divisions, 73 men and 20 women competed for the right to be known as one of the best auction professionals in the world. The lead Auctioneer for CAT Auction Services, where he specializes in selling heavy equipment and has done so in 18 states and seven foreign countries, Rogers won the North Carolina bid-calling championship in 2008 before participating in his first IAC competition in 2009. His 2017 win capped a magical two days for his family, as his father, Mark, was inducted into the NAA Hall of Fame Thursday night. Behind Rogers, Brian Damewood, of Purcellville, Virginia, finished as runner-up, while Jerick Miller, of Leon, Iowa, rounded out the top three as second runner-up among a stout group of 15 men's finalists. Rose Bytnar finished second last year to her mother, Beth Rose, by one-tenth of one point, and made the 2017 championship a three-generation event as she brought her two-month-old daughter to the competition and conference. Bytnar began competing in IAC in 2012 and won the Florida bid-calling championship in 2015. She has grown up with four female auctioneers in her family to guide and mentor her, which has led to achievements such as being named the CAI Rose Award recipient in 2012. Chantel Kimball, CAI, of Eltopia, Washington, took runner-up, a fantastic follow-up to a second runner-up showing in the 2016 IAC. Morgan Hopson, CAI, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, was second runner-up to complete the top three and put the wraps on a fiercely competitive women's field including seven finalists. Earlier in the evening, Kendall Nisly, of Kirksville, Missouri, was crowned winner of the 2017 International Junior Auctioneer Championship, which features competitors ages 12-18 and helps cultivate and promote the next generation of auction professional talent. Also during the IAC competition, which was streamed live throughout the day on Facebook Live, YouTube, and Twitter, the Chuck Cumberlin Sportsmanship, awarded to the IAC competitor who shows the best sportsmanship, was given to John Beechy, of Nappanee, Indiana. The Bob Steffes Rising Star Award was given to Frances Fripp, BAS, of Mississauga, Ontario (Canada). Fripp drove more than 850 miles round trip the day and night before the IAC in order to help her sick auction partner complete an auction before returning in time to compete. Both the IAC and IJAC were conducted as part of the NAA's 68th Annual International Auctioneers Conference and Show, which took place in Columbus this past week. IAC contestants must be 18 years of age or older, a current NAA member, and registered for Conference and Show. America is a nation that honors the work of gifted and skilled tradespeople, but for too long our government has forgotten the American workers. Their interests were pushed aside for global projects and their wealth was taken from their communities and shipped overseas. Under the leadership of President Trump, not only will the American worker never be forgotten, but they will be championed. President Trump has offered a new vision: the well-being of the American citizen and worker will be placed second to none. President Trump has been fighting on behalf of American workers and families since the first day of his Presidency. The President signed a ‘Buy American and Hire American’ Executive Order that targets the abusive use of waivers and exceptions to undermine ‘Buy American’ laws that promote the allocation of taxpayer funds to American companies. The order also takes steps to stop the abuse of the immigration system and protect American workers. The President is committed to preserving American jobs for American citizens. The President has also taken steps to ensure that Americans are equipped with the tools necessary to thrive in the modern economy. He signed an Executive Order to promote and create more flexible apprenticeship programs that arm American workers with valuable skills. President Trump has taken decisive action to free America’s energy potential and create jobs in areas that need them the most. He has approved the construction of new energy pipelines, allowed for the exportation of coal, increased liquefied natural gas exports, and withdrew from the Paris Climate Accord. Unnecessary and burdensome regulations stifle economic growth and harm American workers. The President has repeatedly taken action to remove burdensome regulations so businesses can build in America. President Trump signed an Executive Order stipulating that for every regulation signed into law, two regulations must be eliminated and he has begun the process of reducing permitting time for infrastructure projects from 10 years to 2. The American Action Forum estimates that President Trump has already saved the United States $60 billion through regulatory rollback. President Trump knows that America first means putting American workers first. 164 0 0 0 0 1 -1 -1 0 1999-11-30 00:00:48 html 0 1 0 149 3 3 2 2 2 20170718115838646 149 0 INDNEWS 2017-07-18 11:58:38 FREE Shipping On Slab Grabber Orders FREE shipping on all 50+ unit orders of GRS-1 Slab Grabbers The Ellis MFG Co. designed and OSHA compliant GRS-1 Guardrail Stanchions are build to last. After the success of our original two model lineup, the BMX-250 and BMX-450, Eterra Attachments is proud to announce the introduction of our newest model: the BMX-600. The BMX-600 has a 21 cubic foot capacity— a dramatic increase from the 9 cubic feet of the BMX-250 and the 16 cubic feet of the BMX-450. The specially designed bolt-on mounting system allows the BMX-600 to be mounted onto the most powerful of machinery: telehandlers, front-end loaders, excavators, backhoe loaders, and, of course, skid steers. For machines at or over 2700 lbs, the BMX-450 is a more proportional choice to the machinery weight. For machines under 2700 lbs, we recommend the BMX-250. For mini skid steers specifically, we designed the the BMX-100. The volume of the original two models range from 66-119 gallons with a hydraulic flow range of 12-25 GPM and max hose pressure of 3500 PSI. 2016 has been a big year for the Eterra Cement Mixers and "Eterra Attachments, LLC of Bellingham, Washington is proud to announce the availability of the BMX-600, our newest cement mixing attachment. Born out of our customers' need to have an on-site small batch mixer that was larger than the rest, it follows an already successful line of BMX mixers that include the BMX-100 for mini skid steers, the BMX-250, and the BMX-450 for full-size skid steer loaders. The BMX-600 weighs 1390 lbs when empty and 4565 lbs when full; a demonstration of its amazing capacity. A full 21 cubic feet or 158 gallons can be mixed at one time in this skid steer cement mixer. When you are done mixing, you have the choice of the mechanical side chute, the electric center chute with hose or the front dump method to distribute your finished product. As a new force in the marketplace, this attachment is for those who want to get the job done". – Robert Leib, President of Eterra Attachments, LLC This skid steer mounted scooping style mixer is designed to be a multipurpose attachment with both remote and manual capabilities in mind. For operators who appreciate working from their seats, the hopper is fitted the full cutting edge found on standard bucket attachments to facilitate the scooping of dry materials directly from the worksite. Also from the seat, the hydraulically operated center chute can quickly dispense the contents of the hopper, or use the side chute for a more controlled pour. Another option is to use the 5-foot-long flexible hose attachment for a hands-on control over the pour. The reversible drive system connected to the hydraulics conveniently allows an operator to mix and dispense simultaneously. Both models also feature an enclosed chain drive gear reduction system with an integrated mower. Dry materials can be manually added via the bag cutter directly on the system for those working with specific cement ratios. Our suggestion is to mix 9 cubic feet (1/3 of a yard). This amount is the optimal amount for our machines as it leaves enough space above the paddles to avoid spillage during transport. Our guidelines are 1-part water, 2-parts cement, and 3-parts sand/gravel by volume. In a product demonstration, the BMX-250 at 2/3 full, yielded 31 square feet of cement in 2x4 forms. The biggest selling feature of the BMX models is that it doubles as a steel auger/paddle combination. This attachment is suitable to mix virtually any dry material, and the center chute can double as a sand bag filler. Other features include: A galvanized side chute and top grate. The spring assisted side gate is a locking mechanism that aids in the actuation. Sprocket and chain drive system is completely enclosed and sealed to protect it from damage. Cleaning is easy with the easy lifting grate. Precision laser cut parts, CNC forming, and robotic welding creates a high quality finished product. Pad mounting holes for excavators to connect to so this becomes a dual purpose product with just a few turns of a wrench. The company organized an event to commemorate this special day, which included the participation of company employees, vendors, and partners. Hydraulic Supply Company was founded in 1947 by Harold Inglis as Aero Hardware Supply in Miami Springs, Florida, to provide hardware and tools to the aviation market. With only two team members and the desire to do things right, the company became Aeroquip's very first distributor and gained recognition as a leader in the fluid power industry. Driven by our core purpose and our principals "to make every experience with our organization a positive one," as well as our dedication to our customers and our exceptional team members, Hydraulic Supply Company quickly developed a solid reputation in the market that enabled us to transcend the barriers of time and made this a successful company for the past 70 years. Such a long and successful history could not have been achieved without the people who have supported our continued growth, contributing to make HSC who we are today. Jim Inglis, HSC CEO and owner, spoke at the event and recognized team members who have been with the company for more than 10 years. John Serra, president of HSC, spoke about the company's milestones, our exceptional team members and their dedication to our customers, and the support from our partners over the last 7 decades. Mr. Craig Arnold, chairman and CEO of Eaton Corporation, and Lori Kieklak, president of Eaton Hydraulics– Americas, shared congratulatory remarks with those present and recognized HSC for its long partnership with Eaton. Wacker Neuson has now improved the performance of its electric drive wheeled loader, the WL20e. This battery-powered wheeled loader has a bucket capacity of 0.2m3 and is now available with a high-quality AGM battery. This low maintenance battery features the latest Absorbent Glass Mat technology, with the electrolyte bound in a fleece made of glass fibres. This makes it a leak-proof system and in addition, the new technology is said to be less sensitive to temperature and develops little heat when charging and in operation, delivering greater power during use. The newly upgraded version also now has an onboard battery charger that runs off a 230V supply, allowing easier recharging. The battery is said to be virtually maintenance-free. Customers that already have a WL20e electric wheeled loader can convert to the AGM technology, for example if a battery replacement is due. The firm says that the performance of the electric machine is directly comparable with that of a conventional diesel unit, while also offering some productivity benefits such as the tipping load, which reaches up to 1,509kg due to the weight of the battery. When the battery of the WL20e is fully charged, it offers five hours of working in most typical applications. The operator can always see the battery's charge status, as it is easily visible on the display. The machine also has very low noise emissions, and it also offers economic advantages with operating cost savings of around 40% over the course of the service life. Missouri DOT The Missouri DOT has created a separate website to inform visitors and residents of the upcoming eclipse. Aug. 21, 2017, by most measures will be a normal summer day for Nashville, Tenn. However a solar phenomenon that hasn't reached the U.S. in over a century will create a twilight zone feel across the state (and for that matter a large portion of the United States). What meteorologists are dubbing the "Great American Total Solar Eclipse" will be most noticeable along a 60-mile-wide stretch of land that happens to be directly over Nashville. The perfect location of the Music City has created a huge boost to the tourism industry with 50,000 extra visitors expected and another $15 million-20 million in potential revenue generated. While city officials have welcomed the boost, construction and public works administrators have uneasily accepted the work that comes with the influx. Construction timelines have been ramped up in the commercial sector to open new businesses, restaurants, and shops. Nashville's NBC affiliate reported historic wait times for contractors, and new commercial projects have been put on hold until after the eclipse. Infrastructure projects also have adapted timelines, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT). Almost all state-run construction will be halted from Friday, Aug 18 to Tuesday, Aug 22. Other construction and non-emergency work will be limited based on the influx of tourists. Major roads in and out of the city are expected to be at a standstill as traffic floods highways, single-lane roads, and rural areas. Nashville airport has also begun preparing for incoming traffic after major airlines announced eclipse viewing flights. Tennessee is not alone in their pre-planning for eclipse related traffic. Most all of the states that fall in the eclipses path from South Carolina to Washington have limited or suspended construction during the week of the eclipse. Idaho: The DOT has announced they will suspend most construction and repairs Eclipse weekend. The state is currently developing an incident response plan as well as work schedule for flaggers to help with traffic. Deffenbacher, Justin All of these state DOT's are impacted by the eclipse Wyoming: The state will suspend road construction in heavy flow areas including areas within the path of totality. Nebraska: The state will suspend construction along highways and main thoroughfares. Wide load Construction vehicle permits will also be suspended. Kansas: Road construction will be suspended in the northeastern part of the state. Missouri: Missouri DOT dedicated an entire webpage to preparing its visitors and residents for eclipse related issues. As expected construction will be suspended. Illinois: The state has announced construction and repairs will come to a halt eclipse weekend. Non-essential state employees will not be required to come to work on the 21st. Kentucky: The southern portion of the state will see heavy traffic and possible construction stoppages. North Carolina: Road construction and repairs will be suspended in areas in and around the path of totality. South Carolina: All road construction and lane closures will cease the weekend prior to the eclipse. Oregon has imposed some of the most severe restrictions as Portland, the next largest city with similar views to Nashville, is expecting a record breaking influx of tourists. The state will "completely shut down" all road construction and repairs, as well as suspend all over width permits for construction vehicles. "We are expecting a million people in a state that has a population of four million. We have people that want to just pop in and drive up like it's a Saturday football game, it's not going to be like that. There is going to be no place to move, it's going to be compact," Oregon DOT spokesman Dave Thompson said. TDOT has developed an "emergency action plan" to limit accidents and incidents related to the crash. What crash? Starting a week before the eclipse, highway overhead signs will educate drivers. The department will also deploy more HELP trucks and create queuing areas for emergency personnel to assist in case of accidents. Intensive planning and coordination with several other state agencies, including the Highway Patrol and Emergency Management Agency, have left Tennessee well prepared. "Nashville is accustomed to large events, so we are not worried. Our goal is to be prepared to respond in the event it's necessary. Our biggest concern is people stopping either in a travel lane or along the shoulders during the eclipse," TDOT Communications Director B.J. Doughty said. Still, with two weeks to go until the "once in a lifetime event," construction and public works are already experiencing some of the effects. Changing schedules and adapting timelines have forced officials to slow down during their busiest construction season. As the next step in these efforts, Engcon is now investing in two automated test facilities at its factory in Strömsund, Sweden, where every Engcon tiltrotator will be tested before delivery to the customer. The development of these new test stations is a collaboration among Engcon, Electrum (the company that developed the computer software used during testing), and Specma (which supplied all the hydraulic components). Electrum and Specma are also Swedish companies. “We test all our tiltrotators and, in this new automatic test facility, we can conduct the same test procedure without being personnel-dependent. That's a strength,” says Håkan Näsström, test manager at Engcon. Slight testing variables due to human nature are eliminated. Extensive testing for increased quality All functions are tested to their limits. This ensures full mobility without risk of crushing. The hydraulics are also put under maximum load so that any leakage will be detected. Control systems and extra features are also tested. “All test data are stored in a database and linked to the respective tiltrotator being tested. This gives us unique control and increased quality with the possibility of detailed followup if there are any discrepancies,” says Mats Erik Wiktorsson, Quality Manager for the Engcon Group. Engcon is quality certified in accordance with ISO 9001:2015, which covers everything from how the company handles its clients, through documentation, processes and followup to pure product quality. In addition, Engcon's activities hold environmental certification in accordance with ISO 14001:2015. “The certifications are important for our credibility. We increase efficiency and quality through our quality work, which ultimately leads to better products that enhance customer profitability,” Mats Erik Wiktorsson concludes. About Engcon Engcon is the only company that manufactures a complete range of tiltrotators, quick couplers, control systems and tools for excavators in the 1.5-32 metric ton range. Engcon is a privately-owned Group with its parent company, Engcon Holding AB, based in Strömsund, Sweden. In 2016, the Engcon Group achieved $90 million in sales with 200 employees. ISO 9001 is the most respected quality certification awarded by an independent auditor, and requires an organization to undergo comprehensive audits every three years, plus surveillance audits annually. This past June, two representatives of ISO (International Organization of Standardization) visited VMAC's office and manufacturing facility to perform the certification audit on VMAC's quality management system to upgrade the company from ISO 9001:2008 to the 2015 revision. The auditors also discussed VMAC processes, improvement initiatives, and the tools being used to ensure products and services meet the quality standards. "Once again, the VMAC team demonstrated with facts all the efforts, development, and continual improvement we strive for each day," says Sandra Amador, VMAC's Director of Continuous Improvement. "We have been approved for re-certification to the new revision of the standard ISO 9001:2015." The ISO 9001 certification follows criteria on seven different quality management principles, which include customer focus, leadership, engagement of people, process approach, improvement, evidence-based decision making, and relationship management. By meeting the criteria, 9001 certified companies, like VMAC, have proven their ability to consistently provide customers with high-quality, safe, and reliable products and services. "The quality management system was supported and tested in every department of our organization, and we demonstrated our work and commitment towards quality while maintaining focus on our strategic plans," notes Sandra Amador. The G30 offers up to 30 CFM at 100% duty cycle, making it the best choice for operators using air tools for light duty applications, including mobile mechanics, tire service technicians, and light duty contractors. "The G30, now powered by Honda, continues to lead the industry with reliability, durability, and performance, at the most affordable price available," says Mike Pettigrew, VMAC's Marketing Manager. "VMAC's G30 has always been the lightest, smallest, and most affordable gas engine driven rotary screw air compressor available, and now with the change to the Honda gas engine, it offers even more value to our customers." The change from the Subaru EX40 engine to the Honda GX390 engine is significant, as it represents several major improvements to VMAC's popular G30 air compressor. First, the gas engine driven air compressor is now 23% quieter at high idle, and 75% quieter at low idle. Second, it's 15% more fuel efficient, running longer on a single tank of gas. Third, the VMAC G30 now has improved operational performance at hot temperatures and high elevations. This rotary screw air compressor weighs just 205 lbs, delivers 30 CFM at 100% duty cycle, and does not require a bulky air receiver tank to be added to the service truck. The result is a 50% lighter and 50% more powerful air compressor, when compared to 22-30 CFM reciprocating gas drive air compressors with 30-gallon air receiver tank. The lightweight design means trucks can save up to 4% in fuel, while the compact size makes more space available in the back of the truck for tools and equipment. Like all VMAC air compressors, the VMAC G30 Gas Engine Driven Air Compressor is backed by a VMAC Lifetime Limited Warranty, while the Honda engine is supported by a 3-year Honda Limited Warranty. "The VMAC G30 gas engine driven air compressor is the best choice for customers that need the lightweight, compact performance of a rotary screw air compressor, at the lowest price possible," says Mike Pettigrew. "VMAC is thrilled to re-release the G30 with new benefits for our customers, thanks to the addition of the Honda gas engine." To celebrate the launch of the VMAC's new G30 Gas Engine Driven Air Compressor, VMAC is giving away a G30 at the ICUEE Show in Louisville this October. Hurricane Harvey, which made landfall as a Category 4 storm, is producing life-threatening flooding for both coastal and inland cities in Texas, which is now declared a federal state of disaster. "This is a devastating storm, and our hearts go out to the millions affected, including the thousands of Caterpillar employees in Texas along with their families," said Caterpillar CEO Jim Umpleby. "We know from decades of partnership with the Red Cross that this organization is unmatched at swiftly putting relief donations to work in the areas they're needed most." The safety of Caterpillar employees is the company's top priority. The company and its subsidiaries have more than 20 locations throughout Texas. Those in the high impact area closed Friday, August 25, to ensure employee safety, and Caterpillar will monitor operations at all Texas facilities as the storm continues. "In addition to the Red Cross donation, Cat dealers across the country, including three in Texas, are once again activating in the face of disaster. We are in close contact with them as they first provide for the safety of their employees, and continue to make available generators of all sizes, which are in high demand. Caterpillar has also begun sending power generation equipment from other parts of the country to the storm-ravaged areas and started staging equipment for the clean-up efforts that will soon come," continued Umpleby. In addition to this hurricane donation, the Caterpillar Foundation is also a member of the American Red Cross Annual Disaster Giving Program. This program provides a funding base that allows the Red Cross to respond immediately to the needs of individuals and families impacted by disasters. Caterpillar employee and retiree matching gifts are also available to assist in Harvey relief efforts. First Response Team of America, a long-time Caterpillar partner that is one of the first to arrive on the scene of disasters, is also on its way to the impacted areas.
