Darell first got a taste of the auction life when he was very young and accompanied his Dad, Bud Dunkle to livestock auctions. He attended Reich Auction School in Mason City, Iowa and has been a full time auctioneer ever since. His first job was with Wolverine Stockyards based out of St. Johns, MI but his specialty soon became Heavy Construction & Oil field Equipment, Trucks & Trailers. He held licenses and conducted auction sales in several states including Wisconsin, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Georgia, Florida and Texas. He also used his knowledge to become an accredited and CAGA licensed Personal Property Appraiser and performed recovery work for banks and lending institutions.
Darell and Janet moved from Suttons Bay, MI back to their hometown of Harrison in 1994 and purchased the 62 acre auction yard off E Arnold Lake Rd where Darell Dunkle & Associates began with a very successful Construction Equipment Consignment Sale which then became an annual event every spring and fall drawing a very loyal crowd of buyers and sellers. Darell is so appreciative of them and the many friendships he has made over the years.
