Caterpillar has announced updates to its Cat PM310, PM312, and PM313 Cold Planers, aimed at boosting machine performance, operator comfort and milling efficiency. Specifically tailored for small to medium applications requiring compact, highly agile machinery with robust production capabilities, the PM300 Series sets a new standard.
The latest PM300 models are powered by the advanced Cat C9.3B engine, delivering elevated peak torque and gross power, as validated through rigorous standard performance testing. With a gross power rating of 256 kW (343 hp), the Cat C9.3B engine is adaptable to configurations compliant with U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final, EU Stage V, Korea Stage V emission standards, or Brazil MAR-1 emission standards, aligning with U.S. EPA Tier 3 and EU Stage IIIA equivalents.
Featuring enhanced electronic, fuel, and air systems, the Cat C9.3B engine boasts reduced complexity and improved accessibility for maintenance tasks. Engine oil filter access is simplified, and the adoption of multipiece, cartridge-style engine filters minimize waste and reduces replacement expenses.
Improving both operational efficiency and operator comfort, the latest PM300 series incorporates design upgrades including revamped transition flashing between primary and loading conveyors, resulting in superior material containment and reduced build-up on the machine frame. Additional enhancements to the right-hand side plate, chamber-to-conveyor sealing and loading conveyor belt sealing further optimize material containment. Front track deflectors positioned ahead of the drive motors provide added protection against debris impact and accumulation, thereby enhancing the machine's service life.
Moreover, operators benefit from new features such as adjustable on-screen guidance lines on the left-hand camera, facilitating cutting edge tracking from either side of the machine. Ground personnel can now control obstacle jump capability from rear ground controls, enhancing milling efficiency.
Safety and visibility during milling and transportation around job sites are enhanced with wide-dispersion LED working lights and LED roading light options for the PM310, PM312, and PM313 models. Additionally, an exhaust deflector option redirects exhaust away from buildings and ground personnel, contributing to a more favorable working environment. The redesigned optional dust abatement ducting further augments sealing and suction.
