Caterpillar Inc. has launched the Cat FM528 GF/LL (General Forestry/Log Loader), a multi-configurable forestry machine designed for versatility and efficiency in logging, land clearing and millyard operations.
Equipped with Caterpillar’s side-entry Next Generation certified forestry cab, the FM528 prioritizes operator safety and visibility.
The cab features a reinforced structure, a 1.25-inch polycarbonate windshield, narrow cab pillars, panoramic windows and a flat engine hood for improved sightlines.
The FM528 is the first Caterpillar Forest Machine to offer both fixed and live heel configurations, along with a blade option, making it adaptable for various forestry applications.
It is compatible with a range of Cat forestry grapples, from 52 to 60 inches, and can be set up for processing, roadbuilding, log loading and knuckleboom loading.
The FM528 is designed for fuel efficiency and durability. The electrohydraulic system provides high torque at low revolutions per minute to reduce fuel consumption and maintenance costs.
Cooling e-fans with reversing capabilities help regulate engine temperature and optimize performance. The machine’s Triple Grouser track shoes enhance maneuverability while minimizing ground disturbance in soft, wet conditions.
The FM528 shares components with Cat Next Generation excavators, improving parts availability and reducing downtime. Extended service intervals for fuel and hydraulic oil filters contribute to lower maintenance costs.
Caterpillar continues to expand its forestry lineup with five models, including the FM528 GF and FM528 LL, along with a range of attachments designed to enhance productivity and efficiency.
The FM528 will be available through Cat dealers nationwide.
