Caterpillar Enhances Medium Dozers With Advanced Technology
Caterpillar (has introduced upgrades to its medium dozer range. Formerly known as ARO with Assist, the Cat Assist with ARO (Attachment Ready Option) suite of features will now be standard on Cat® D4, D5, D6, D6 XE and D7 models, effective early 2024. Furthermore, customers will have access to a new Cat Grade with 3D Ready option, offering enhanced flexibility for upgrading to Cat Grade with 3D on D4, D5, and D6 dozer models.
The integration of Cat Assist with ARO as a standard feature ensures that every new Cat D4-D7 dozer is equipped with a comprehensive suite of Assist features, facilitating easy upgrades to Cat Grade 3D. These features encompass Stable Blade for improved finish dozing, Traction Control to minimize track slip and reduce wear, Auto Carry for optimal blade loads, Blade Load Monitor providing operator coaching for enhanced productivity, Slope Assist™ maintaining blade angles without GPS, and Steer Assist automatically keeping dozing on track. Additionally, ARO incorporates sensors (IMUs) on the machine for GPS capability.
Cat Grade with 3D harnesses GPS signals to autonomously adjust blade lift and tilt movements, enabling operators to reach design specifications more swiftly, thereby saving time and reducing rework, labor and material costs. The new Cat Grade with 3D Ready option comprises all necessary hardware for the 3D system, pre-installed and tested at the factory. This option includes onboard sensors, GNSS antennas and receivers and a 10-inch (25.4-mm) touchscreen display. Subsequently, the 3D Ready hardware can be upgraded to a complete Grade with 3D system by purchasing required licenses through the Cat Dealer.
