Bobcat Company has broadened the reach of its Machine IQ Remote Engine Disable/Enable technology, now compatible with a wider range of its equipment.
Initially launched in June 2024 for select compact track loaders and skid-steer loaders, the remote-control feature is now also available on certain models of compact excavators, compact wheel loaders and Toolcat utility work machines.
For models lacking factory-installed telematics, Bobcat offers an aftermarket kit that can be purchased through local dealers, enabling even more owners to access this security feature.
The Remote Engine Disable/Enable function allows equipment owners in North America and Europe to remotely control their machines' engines via the Bobcat Owner Portal or Machine IQ app. With just a few clicks, owners can disable or re-enable the engine, deterring theft and aiding in fast recovery if unauthorized use is detected.
For rental businesses, this feature provides a powerful tool to enforce rental terms, allowing them to remotely disable equipment if terms are not met.
If unauthorized use is suspected, owners can log into their portal or app, locate their equipment, and activate the disable function. Once activated, any attempt to start the engine will fail, and if the machine is already in use, it will automatically enter a de-rate mode.
This advanced security feature is available to Machine IQ Health and Security subscribers with connected, compatible Bobcat machines, further enhancing security and control for equipment owners.
