In a strategic collaboration, Atlas Foundation Company, a leading provider of deep foundation and earth retention solutions, has teamed up with Felling Trailers to address their specialized trailer needs.
Founded in 1968, Atlas Foundation Company has established itself as a pioneer in the industry, offering a wide range of services including pile driving, caissons, micropiles, earth retention and helical piers. Their Micro Pile Division recently embarked on a unique project requiring a custom water pump, sourced from an overseas manufacturer, to be integrated onto a trailer for enhanced mobility and operational efficiency.
Recognizing the importance of a tailored solution, Larry Boeke, Superintendent of Maintenance and Shop Repair at Atlas Foundation Company, turned to Felling Trailers. Boeke's decision was informed by his past positive experiences working with Felling Trailers, particularly in trailer refurbishments.
Mike Wolff, formerly part of Felling’s Service team and now in trailer sales, facilitated the initial contact between Atlas Foundation Company and Felling Trailers. Subsequently, T.J. Schwartz, Felling’s OEM trailer specialist, was brought on board to spearhead the project.
The collaboration between the two companies involved multiple consultations to determine the specific requirements and specifications of the trailer. After careful consideration, the FT-20 WD (wide deck) model was selected as the base for the trailer, providing the necessary foundation for customization.
Throughout the design phase, both teams worked closely alongside the overseas pump vendor to ensure seamless integration and optimal functionality. Safety considerations were paramount, with modifications made to enhance crew accessibility and prevent water and ice build-up, particularly in cold weather conditions.
With the design finalized, the project moved into the production phase, where the trailer was meticulously constructed according to specifications. Featuring Grat-X decking and custom mounting provisions for the water pump, along with additional safety features such as pull-out grip strut side steps and rear stabilizer jacks, the trailer was tailored to meet Atlas Foundation Company’s exacting standards.
